Oh Geeze, Sorry. Flugtag.

4 Aug

So anyway, um, seems I totally forgot about this, but I did in fact attend the Flugtag at Harriet Island in St. Paul a few weeks ago. For those who still don’t know what this is, it boils down to a bunch of teams of people (or idiots depending on your outlook) who try to build contraptions to break the bonds of this mortal earth and soar into the lofty heights of the great blue sky. Like that? Yeah, it was pretty sweet to write. Anyway, I have a ton of pictures of the event, but won’t be putting all of them up here simply because there are so many. I will put some of them up and you can judge for yourself – what are you judging? I have no idea, decide that for yourself as well I guess.

Overall, the event was free and the weather was perfect. I have probably contracted skin cancer of some sort from not wearing sunscreen or a hat, but it was worth it (if, in fact, skin cancer can be worth it I suppose). Also, a new world record was set. Did you read that! A WORLD FREAKING RECORD! The world record smashing flight went for 207 feet, beating the old record of 195 feet.

So, about last weekend…

23 Jul

So, what have I been up to? Not much. Went golfing last Saturday at St. Croix National in Wisconsin. Every hole is very scenic and very challenging. I’m pretty sure that I lost half a dozen golf balls. I still beat the other members of my group though. Here are some pictures of a few holes on the course.

Before that, on Friday that would be, I met up with a buddy from work and watched a band called Claps play “music.” It was some chillaxing muzik utilizing keyboards and synthesizers. It was actually not that bad, but I had had a few beers and some drink I was told was a gin and tonic. This was at Sauce Soundbar at the corner of Lake and Lyndale. You see that guy in the pictures there? Yeah, he was so into the music that he was humping the windows behind him and gyrating sporadically and spasmodically all over the stage. At one point I thought about running up on stage to make sure that he wasn’t having an epileptic fit.

So, what’s going on this weekend? FLUGTAG!! I can’t wait for Saturday to watch a bunch of morons see if they can take flight, fail horribly and plunge into the Mississippi. Many pics next week of course!
