Lakewood Cemetery: The Leftovers

14 May

Having spent over four hours in the cemetery, I managed to take many more pictures than what I had in the previous post. This post is intended to show off more of this beautiful place, and some of the other graves and headstones that stood out to me. Some of the pictures are a little washed out, but that’s only because I had the incorrect filter on for taking pictures that day.

The Man With No Death Date

The Man With No Death Date

This first guy I can only assume is still alive and is a zombie. He was born in 1890 and has not died yet. If he is not dead, and is a zombie, then perhaps he is the one who bit Wellstone and infected him before he was summarily decapitated. Be careful if you are in the vicinity of this cemetery now. If you hear an ominous moaning, run and get to high ground as soon as possible. George Smith’s zombie will be aiming for your brains.

Edwin Stone

Edwin Stone

Edwin Stone is interesting for the fact that his tombstone says he was killed by Sioux Indians in 1862 at a battle in Agton, MN. Not too many people can claim that.

I always said that texting would be the downfall of society. Now I know that I was correct.

The Fix Family Grave

The Fix Family Grave

This grave for the Fix family is more sad than anything. If you will notice, they had three children and all of them died before either the mother or the father. That’s either really bad luck, or shitty timing or both. This was probably the saddest grave I saw all day.

The Death of Purple

The Death of Purple

It is always a sad day when a color has to be killed off, but at least it was this one.

Mad Skeels

Mad Skeels

This dude did not have the skeels to keep himself out of the grave. Too bad.

Death of Cool

Death of Cool

I always knew that cool would be dead at some point, but to be buried here? That’s quite an honor for the cemetery.

These are some of the Mausoleums that are on the premises and what I have done is taken a picture of the outside and then the inside so you can see what the interior of some of these grand palaces look like. Some of the interiors are pretty interesting, as you will come to see.

Pretty standard fare in the one above, but check out the contents of this next one.

That is a serious picture there. Inside that place was a Chinese takeout bag. This means someone had recently been there, and that they brought Chinese food to eat. Unless, in another zombie twist of fate, the zombie ordered some Chinese and then ate the delivery boy. This next one is also odd, but only because the interior is so dingy. It is obviously leaking and needs to be cleaned up. The other interesting part is that you can see where the next cache of bodies is going to be stashed. They are stored in the walls, much like in an autopsy room. Creepy.

Like I said in the other post, I will have to go back here to try and find some of the more famous tombs. Also, I need to go back when the weather is a bit better and it isn’t so cold and overcast. Stay tuned for more of this grand place.
